
“C. S. Lewis: The Man Who Invented Narnia”: November Lecture Dates in Alaska

On November 17th and 19th, Alaska residents will have the opportunity to hear Dr. Bruce L. Edwards, an internationally known C. S. Lewis scholar and presenter, speak on the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of C. S. Lewis’s passing. In two lectures planned for two different venues, Edwards will deliver two slightly different presentations but both focused on the land of Narnia.
Sunday, November 17, Edwards will speak at 2:00 at Fireside Books, 720 S Alaska St Palmer, AK 99645 [(907) 745-2665]. He will provide a brief biographical background of Lewis’s life and works, and then address the birth of Narnia, and its continuing relevance and impact in the 21st Century.
He will have a Q&A session, and also will sell (and sign) copies of his works: Not a Tame Lion: The Spiritual World of Narnia and Further Up and Further In: Understanding the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
On Tuesday, November 19, 6PM, Edwards will speak at the Willow AK Library (23557 West Willow Community Center Cir. Willow, AK 99688) in the Community Room, with a topic for all ages, focused on the visual background of Lewis’s life, career, and Narnian landscapes. Edwards has taught seminars on Lewis at his former home in Oxford, known as the Kilns. He will also sell (and sign) copies of his work. : Not a Tame Lion: The Spiritual World of Narnia and Further Up and Further In: Understanding the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
Dr. Edwards recently retired from 31 and a half years as a faculty member and administrator at Bowling Green State University (Ohio), where he regularly taught courses on the life and works of C. S.
