“Visiting Planet Narnia”
We are pleased to welcome Dr. Michael Ward, Cambridge University, who will speak at Bowling Green State University, Tues., January 22, 2008, 6:45PM, BGSU Student Union, Rm. 308. Sponsored by the Fellowship of Christian Graduate Students.
Watch this space for a review of his intriguing new work on the origins of Narnia in the imagination of C. S. Lewis!

I happened to hear Dr. Ward speak in Oxford about his book when it was still at press, and my students and I were amazed at how this scholarship unfolded. The arguments Ward posited for his dissertation (now book) were fascinating and real, especially to a group of American students studying Lewis’ work in his own town.

I’m over half-way through Michael’s book and it is very good. Sound scholarship and insights from someone who has soaked in Lewis’ oeuvre for years. A must read for those interested, not just in Narnia, but also in Lewis’ poetry and the Space Trilogy. Some good biographical material here as well.
