A Contrarian View of The Golden Compass

December 31st, 2007 | Skip to comments

Here is an alternative view to address the now fairly tame (because of the lack of box office staying power) controversy over The Golden Compass, written by my son, Justin Edwards, a former youth pastor, now filmmaker and musician in Santa Monica, CA, at his sprightly Pseudobook Review site.

Pseudobook is the arts, music, and film production company that happens to host this blog and my C S Lewis Resources site. Justin takes the view that Pullman ironically provides the basis for finding God in the Golden Compass.

  1. My husband and I both loved the Golden Compass (we were prompted to see it by the controversy). I agree with your son that it was a charming tale and it would be unfortunate if they weren’t able to make a sequal.

I came across your blog while doing research on the connections between William Morris and C.S. Lewis. I’ve ordered one of your articles on the subject–it looks fascinating!
