The Road to Memphis
March 8th, 2006 | Skip to comments
In two weeks, I will be hosted by Professor Debbie Graham, Director of the Institute for the Arts and Cultural Apologetics at Crichton College in Memphis TN, where I will be delivering two addresses, one in morning chapel (Wed., March 22, 10AM) and one in the evening at the Virgil L. Iles Auditorium (7PM).
According to the Crichton web site, The Institute for the Arts and Cultural Apologetics “aims to help students become more discerning about issues and developments in the arts and general culture. The Institute sponsors lecture series, film discussions, concerts, art exhibits, and various other events designed to encourage Christian engagement with our culture.”
The Institute also gives students practice in how to “critically evaluate a wide spectrum of the arts in order to contribute to the ongoing formation of a Christian perspective on aesthetics as well as to expand the appreciation of the contribution of Christians in the history of art.” It sounds like a terrific program, and I am privileged to be invited to speak. I know the Memphis C. S. Lewis Society will be part of an appreciative audience.
A NOTE TO MY FAITHFUL AND INQUISITIVE READERS: I am still drafting my response to the “Inklingism” article in Image. But I have not had as much time to devote to it as I would like. . . thanks for your patience.
